My life’s weekly highlight…big or small, good or bad!

Week 50-52: Finally!

Standard

We’re ending 2010 in just a few minutes and my Project 52 is about to be completed.  I was not as diligent as I would want it to be…I missed some weeks and just had to squeeze them in one post (just like this one) ;oP… there are times when my posts were so blah (hope this is not one of those) ;oP… but  still, I’m  glad I  get  to finish it!  Hurray!

It is fitting to end this project with the Top 10 in 2010…a list of what I am most grateful for this year…here goes:

Thank you Lord for…

10.    Closed case for Oliver v.s. BPI…finally, BPI gave in.  Case closed!

9.       Our Hong Kong trip last  January with my parents and my eldest daughter!   Come to think of it, this was the first time  I travelled out of the country with my parents.  Before this, we were always with other relatives and friends whenever we go out of the country, but never together.   This was also the first out of the country trip for Gaby!   It was so much fun especially our Ocean Park  &  Disneyland Adventures.   We were all like children enjoying  kids’ stuff!

REMEMBER FOREVER:

Materials Used:  Papers-EK Success, DCWV, Teresa Collins;  Others-Fancy Pants felt shape, Tattered Angels mist,  Prima chipboard & pompoms, MM brads, Magic Mesh, local ric rac/ribbons,  Heidi Swapp chipboard sticker, MM rub-ons, Colorbok chipboard.

8.       Material blessings that came our way this year.    I know we should be more prudent but  thank you Lord for indulging us!    (Insert:  scrappy goodies ;o)

7.       Our application to migrate.   Finally, after so many years of thinking it over and over and over…and months of preparing the documents, we have submitted our application.  If it’s God’s will then we’ll get approved!   Let’s see!

 6.      Our work!  Meeting my sales quota at work in 3rd Quarter.  God is so good, our team (and each one of us)  met our sales target early on.    Hopefully, it will mean a large bonus and high increase next year *wink*!  I am claiming it…them!   Also, Oliver’s  successful training career in Amdatex.  Hope  it continues to be a smooth ride for the coming yearssss….

5.       Our relatively good health.  Although I am hypertensive and obese and Oliver is diabetec, hypertensive and diabetic (insert: obese too ;o), the fact that we are still alive and breathing, we considered ourselves so blessed!    I am more grateful that my children, Alexa and Gaby (who’s sickly) are healthy!  Thank God they just had minor cough, cold and fever that only required  doses of paracetamol and cough syrup.

MY 2 PEAS:

Materials Used:  All Prima (thanks DT Iris) except the white Bazzill paper.

4.       Our 11th wedding anniversary which was made special by our renewal of vows.   Thank you God for blessing me with a crazy, loving, moody, responsible, great Dad and  God-fearing husband.  May You bless us with more decades of  loving togetherness…growing old (er) together…growing in faith together!

3.       Our BSG family.  I thank them  for the warmth and welcome they gave us.  It’s through them that we really feel Your  presence and blessings, Lord.  We are looking forward to know more about You  through them, with them!

2.       Our children,  parents, siblings, nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles,  other relatives and friends.  They are proof that You are with us, Lord.   May we be a blessing to them as much as they have always been a blessing to us!

1.       Gift of  life.  They say that when we die, we’ll just leave 2 things behind…our relationships with the people around us and our spirit…may the good Lord continue to bless me with more years of building good relationships…of  living, laughing, loving and learning…of  doing His will…of growing in faith…of feeding my spirit with what is pleasing to Him.   I can’t thank You enough Lord for this gift, this grace!

So, how about you?  What’s your Top 10 in 2010?

Weeks 46-49: Let’s Play!

Hellloooowww!

I know I’m neglecting my blog but rest assured that I’m still playing with my scrapbook toys at least once a week!

Speaking of playing, I did several pages of Alexa having a grand time playing! How simple a child’s life is! *sigh* They find joy in simple things and in turn, they bring happiness to the people around them just for being happy…smiling and laughing out loud! Week 45: Prima November Newsletter

Standard

I’m so happy to announce that one of my pages is featured in the current Prima Newsletter (under Reader’s Find).

Did this during Ria’s Birthday celebration…got the mojo running because of the girls, of course!  Thanks to Iris and Liza  for some stuff they shared that I used here.

To quote what Prima wrote:

We are delighted to show you a gorgeous layout by one of our readers! Emma Fronda from

the Philippines sent us this beautiful layout titled, “Blessing”, that is filled with sweet

little touches. We love the contrast in colors, the amazing texture displayed, the variety of

techniques used, and the placement of the elements to create sweeping movement across

the page. It is simply stunning, Emma!

BLESSING!

Everything is Prima except for the Technique Tuesday’s stamp and Bazzill key chipboard.

That’s my kikay Alexa when she was trying on her new shirt I bought, I just grabbed the camera and there she went with girlie poses without any prompting.    I have several  photos  from the “shoot” waiting to be scrapped and I’m so excited to use them with this overwhelming inspiration.

Thanks Sharon and Prima!

Week 44: My Little Diva

Standard

My youngest girl, Alexa,  is so girlie girl.  She loves putting on my lipgloss, pretends to put the face powder and blush on,  loves to pretend cooking or having her hair done, insists on putting on her favorite dresses, twirls when she wears her favorite princess skirt…oh I can go on forever with the girlie stuff she loves and does.  So different from her Ate (older sister), actually.    As she turned 2 last year, she had already a fixation on nail polish!  She loves it!  Every time she sees me, my yayas  (nanny) or my sisters-in-law put on theirs, she insists on putting  some on her finger/toe nails too!  She would bawl over if we refuse (of course I refuse often because she’s still a baby and nail polish is not for small kids, right?!).  But one day, I saw all her nails painted with dark pink courtesy of my yaya who worked for a salon before…I gasped but was also amused!  She really loved it and refused to remove the polish…what can I do?!? I just let it be for a while and made the most of it by taking pictures ;o)…yup, a little diva she is!

I created my take on XOXO November Challenge using this photo of her cute little feet.

LITTLE DIVA:

Journal:  You insisted to have your toenails painted too!  Such a diva!

Materials Used:  Papers-K&Co, Teresa Collins & Basic Grey; Flowers&leaves-local; Journalling spot-Prima; stickers-7 Gypsies & Prima ;  Alpha chipboards-Buzz&Bloom & American Crafts; Others-Magic mesh,  MM photo turns, burlap, local metal embellishment & lace.

Hope you can join the challenge.  Just scraplift one or two of the lipstick chicks’ creation and you’re good to go.  You might just win awesome stuff from Scrap Attack.

Week 43: Soar

Standard

I dread the day when it’s time to let my kids spread their wings and fly. I know I have to. One day. But for now, I will just let them dream big dreams.

May they have the courage and determination to pursue and fulfill them…and may God grant us (their parents) strength and wisdom to know when to still hold on and when to let go and let them soar…

SOAR:

Journal: Dream big dreams…Be brave and fly…Soar (title)

Materials Used: Everything Prima except for the Pink ruffled ribbon I got locally.

Used Prima October BAP (Build a Page) sketch here.

Hope you had a spooky but fun Halloween!

Week 42: How do you solve a problem like…

Standard

Basic Grey?

A lot of scrapbookers, in our community for that matter, are Basic Grey-challenged.  The sometimes bright but most of the time distressed designs of this brand cause many of us  to have creative block.  However, we can’t help but buy (or at least drool) everytime they release a new design *sigh* because they’re so beautiful and irresistible!   So happy I  get lucky to create some pages worthy to be featured in their gallery like this one:

LITTLE ARTIST:

 CLOSER LOOK:

Caught Alexa doodling at a tender age of one and a half years old here. She just turned 3 and she still loves to color and doodle, particularly flowers using circles. Yes, we have to encourage and start them young. She might be the next Frida Kahlo or a female Juan Luna, right?

Materials Used: Papers, stickers, mini brad-Basic Grey; Felt-Queen & Co., Fancy Pants & hand-made by Alidz; Flower-Prima; Journalling spot-Prima; Chipboard-AC; Ribbon-Heidi Swapp; green brad-local.

Do you know that the Basic Grey Gallery hibernated for a while but now it’s back — better looking, improved, with lots of newly released- inspiration filled pages?  Better check it out now and submit your works for a chance to win some give-aways!

So, going back—how do we solve the problem like Basic Grey (BG)? I was looking at my 2007-2008  pages…

Created this in 2007. The time when hand-cutting (or what we term massacre) the papers was beginning to be the norm in scrapbooking.

Created in 2007 but still one of my faves!

A layout in 2008 and still loving it!

BG-Fusion papers were one of my oldest stash. I was able to use them only in latter part of 2008, to think they were released ages ago!.

My GDT works with Scrapbukan in 2008 (though published in Feb 2009).

…and one thing I noticed was that I used their plain or simple  paper/s  in the kit or a cardstock as the base and the rest of the  busy and bright ones work well with it (especially when I did some cutting).   It  helped that I   used  not-so-busy-looking/too many colors photos as well.   Add some of their yummy stickers, rub-ons and 3D embellishments, and, viola , I bet you’ll  have an awesome page!

But I still wonder how my fave BG  designers Kelly Goree  and my friend, Iris Babo-Uy make it seem so easy peasy!

Week 41: Echo Park

Standard

This week has been very busy but I’m glad I was able to play and have fun last Saturday during the birthday celebration of one of my scrap-buddies…the uber-talented, Ria.    It was so good to spend the time with the Adobo girls plus 1 and scrap side by side again with the famous Filipino and Philippine-based scrapbookers like Ria and IrisI hope I was able to amass their creative dust to last me the rest of the year.

I think I did because Mr. Mojo has been with me for the past few days and made a couple of pages  (2 of which were done at Ria’s).  Yahoo!  I was so inspired too because of the cute stuff from the newest brand in the market, Echo Park Papers!     Thanks to Lasting Impression  for bringing these yummy goodies here, particularly, the Walk in the Park and Sweet Summertime lines:

Love love them, so colorful and bright, don’t you agree?

Week 41: Yummy!

Standard

Sharing a fun layout I made this time. If you’re a scrapbook addict like me, yummy would be those papers, chipboards, buttons, laces and other embellishments that ordinary and normal people would think otherwise! Love this Sassafras paper I used as the background and those cute little pieces I cut from Fancy Pants, October Afternoon, American Crafts and Cosmo Cricket papers. These brands really make scrapbookers drool! Can’t wait to touch their new CHA release from our fave LSS (local scrapbooking store/s).

YUM!

Yes, I know it’s dangerous for Alexa to hold that stick of marshmallow  but don’t you worry, I grabbed it after some clicks of the camera ;o)…*sigh* things  we do for love (of this hobby)…hmm, reminds me of Rachel’s finale song in the first episode of Glee, Season 2.  Love that song! Proud of Sunshine, our very own Charice! Ok, I digress.

Anyway,  hope you find a lot of simple things in life yummy!  Savor them!  Savor life!

Week 39/40: XOXO is back!

Standard

XOXO Challenge blog is back after a 3 month hiatus. Life became busy with the owner, Lynette Davis, so she needed to prioritize family first. Anyway, it’s updated with this month’s challenge. Hope you can join in the fun. All you have to do is scraplift any of the lipstick chicks’ lay-out which you can check here.

(sorry, something’s wrong with my laptop or connection, I can’t post any pictures)

Each of us was given Renee’s pretty handmade flowers all the way from Australia. Yipee!

Please check back in a week or so to know the sponsor for this month’s challenge. I’m sure it’s going to bring you scrappiness.

Week 38: Girls just wanna have fun!

Standard

Last September 24, the Adobo girls converged again to celebrate the birthdays of our September celebrators (and my birthday too which was last June hahaha…and my BFF’s last August ;o). We had a blast spending the day scrapping, scrapshopping, chitchatting, eating…and…and…spending most of the time having silly poses in front of the camera! I tell you, it was a fun, instant photoshoot…here are some snapshots which Pia and Liza took!

Thanks Liza for editing these!

The shabby chic interiors of our favorite LSS, Lasting Impression has a lot of perfect spots for this shoot!

What a day indeed! Even my daughter who had to tag along enjoyed it (even if we ignored her the whole time hahaha)! Can’t wait for another one soon!
