These feet on Ad this!

Standard

I’m proud to be this week’s Ad this  guest designer!

Their current challenge  is to create a layout based on this dramatic Starbucks Ad  (love it!)  while combining your favorite products and techniques.

June 29th ad

My take on the challenge was supposedly to use a glimmer mist but since I’ve yet to get 1 for myself on the date of the deadline, I have to come up with an alternative.  So I tried  pouring my acrylic paint into an atomizer, mixed it with the right amount of water, sprayed it first into several cardstock and viola, had paint all over my hands & arms…onto the floor…wasted several sheets…and finally,  a nice background for my layout ;o)

Since I love distressing particularly tearing with curling, I decided to do it again here.

Hope I did justice to the challenge using one of my favorite photos of Alexa!

These Feet

Groovy Baby, yeah!

Standard

Alexa is such a groovy baby with a lot of spunk!  She loves wearing my shoes, loves to dig into my bag,  tinkers my make-up kit, she’s excited whenever I pretend to put make-up on her!   And now,  I can’t wear my shades for more than a minute because she grabs it and wears them herself!  Glad to have captured this precious moment because she’s absolutely adorable! ;o)

I used  one of the June sketches by Lyn Hilt found in Coordinates Collections. Had fun doing this!

GROOVY BABY:

Groovy Baby

Journal:   Cute and groovy…that’s what you are, my baby!

Materials Used:  Paper-Basic Grey (Color Me Silly/Sugared/Stella Ruby),  Cosmo Cricket;  AC thickers; K&CO, Sassafrass chipboard; Prima Flowers;   Autumn Leaves buttons;  Local  lace and crochet flower;  Collage Press die-cut tag.

Hold Me Close!

Happy Father’s Day to my ‘Tart, to my wonderful Dad and to all the Daddies in the world!  May you continue to  lead,  love, protect and nurture  your family as our greatest “Father” does!

Here’s another lay-out for this special day.    I used the sketch #3 from Scrappinkids!

HOLD ME CLOSE:

Hold Me Close

Journal:  Don’t worry Alexa, Daddy’s arms will hold you tight and keep you safe from harm!

Materials Used:  Papers-BG, American Crafts, MME;  Buttons-Autumn Leaves; Alpha chipboard-Making Memories; Pen-Uniball white pen.

I felt  that the lay-out was lopsided with the journaling on one side only so I added this to the other side:   “Dearest Alexa, remember that Daddy loves you! Always! “ and another to the bottom of one of the photos: “@ Hotel Vida, Clark”.

To my sweet hubby, thanks for being a great Daddy to our girls!   We love you!!!

Jump for Joy!

Standard

I’m now discovering all these international calls, challenges and contests over the net.   Since I’m making a page or two every week,  why not do some for these, right?   I enjoyed the BG challenge at Pagemaps the last time and I had fun making this for Ad This’ challenge this week:

JUMP:

Jump

Journal:  Jumping for joy…that’s what you do whenever you’re near the waters!

Materials Used:  Papers-MME, Paperworx, American Crafts, Bampop;  Flowers-Prima, Fancy pants felt shapes, AC chipboard;  Black Street die cut for the journal; Local blings, buttons and ribbons.

Aside from the featured Ad, we have to layer using 5 mediums or scrapbooking materials.  For this lay-out, I layered the  ribbons, flowers, buttons, blings and patterned papers.

By the way, the photos were taken during our trip to Boracay last Holiday season.   Gaby enjoyed  our 2-week stay there and she keeps on asking when are we going back.   She hopes it would be soon!  Me too, dear!

No More Photos Please!

Standard

The photo here is one of the many during Alexa’s  photoshoot when she was 14 months old.   We were  doing everything for her to stay put,  coaxing her to smile,  making faces… giving all things in my bag  as toys.   The photographer captured this perfect photo  which tells us that Alexa has had enough and if she can talk, she would probably tell us,  “Stop!  No more photos please!”

NO MORE PHOTOS PLEASE!

No More

Journal:  Sorry baby, but we can’t help it.   You look so adorable especially with that face!

Materials Used:  Paper-K&C0, Chatterbox, Love Elsie, Sassafrass, October Afternoon, Pink Paisley, BG, Crate Paper;  Journaling Notes-Prima, MM; Chipboard-Heidi Swapp; Sticker-7 gypsies, 2 Moms, MM; Others-Stickles, AL button, Local ribbon & bling, Semco Paint, Colorbox Ink, Photoshop Elements for the tag.

She’s now 20 months old and she wears this expression whenever she wants us to do something for her.    How can you resist that adorable face, right?

Love Ko ‘To…

Standard

First off, today’s hubby’s 36th birthday!  Love ko ‘ to!  Happy Birthday,  ‘Tart!

Going forth, had fun making this LO.   Of all the fastfood restos we have, I prefer Mc Donalds!  My kids too!

For this LO,  I thought of painting the logo of McDo on the paper and of course, using their tagline as my title too!   I was so afraid to start painting the “M”.  But I guess, it went fine to think it was painted free-handedly!

LOVE KO ‘TO:

Love ko to

Journaling:  Love ko ‘to…asawa ko…panganay ko…bunso ko…pati (si) Mc Do, love ko!

(English:  I love these…my hubby, my first-born, my youngest…even McDo, I love!)

Materials Used:  Papers-Basic Grey-Color Me Silly, Sassafrass (Thanks Ria!),  Scenic Route, DCWV CS;  Fancy Pants Felt shapes; AC thickers; Kindy Glitz, Ranger Stickles; MM Acrylic Paint.

Ikaw?  Sinong love mo?

Scrappin’ Men!

Standard

(ADDENDUM:  Forgot to mention that this photo was taken by a good friend and a great scrapper, Pia!  Thanks dear!  Sorry to have forgotten the credit! Mwah!)

A tribute to the men who understand, indulge and support us in our passion and addiction for our “art”.

These are the men who just scratch their heads when their wives squeal in delight at some papers and odd looking little things we call embellishments…who are still puzzled why a piece of scrap cost more than a McDonalds Happy Meal… who stay in bed with our kids when we are incarcerated in our own little world often forgetting that the sun will soon rise…who take care of our home when we,  their wives get together for our regular “session”…who dig in in their wallets and have their eyes bawled out when they see the credit card bills…who  should  be nice and should be all praises when we show them our “work” or else…for all of these, we can only say “thank you”! You are our “wind beneath our (scrappin’) wings!

Advanced Happy Father’s Day, guys!

SCRAPPIN MEN:

Scrappin_Men_pagemaps

Journaling:  No, they’re not scrappin’, they’re are our No. 1 fan…and our perinially broke financier!  Thank you for always indulging us!

Materials Used:  Papers: Basic Grey-Infused, Sugared, Lily Kate, Eva, Scarlett Letter, Love Elsie;  Embellishments-Basic Grey Tag, MM Journaling Note, Prima flowers, Mesh, AC thickers, Local ribbon, bling, felt.

For this LO, I used Becky Fleck’s sketch found in Pagemaps’ Blog for BG’s Contest.   Here’s the wonderful  sketch:

Try it out and join the fun!  You still have a few hours to work on it!  Go!
