Week 17: Sisters…

Standard

Whether my girls like it or not, they have each other to love and torture, err, nurture!

Seriously, I’m glad I have two kids. It lessens my worries as a Mom since I know they have each other to turn to when the going gets rough and tough. Even if Alexa gets into Gaby’s nerves sometimes, the latter can’t help but forgive and forget after a minute or two. On the other hand, Alexa hero-worships her “Ate”. I’m confident that they will take care of each other until they’re old and grey.

Here’s another layout that shows how they adore each other. I used a sketch especially made for My Scrapbook Nook at Creative Scrappers. Since we celebrated Earth Day, I thought of using mostly green in this layout (a color which I seldom use, by the way.)

FOREVER:

Journal: Remember that you always have each other for life! — Mom –

Materials Used: Papers-Making Memories, Sassafras, K&Co, MME, Chatterbox; Fabric-Buzz and Bloom; Flower-American Crafts; Tags-K&Co, Fancy Pants, Cosmo Cricket; Others-Making Memories chipboard, 7Gypsies paper clip; K&Co epoxy brad; Magic Mesh; Autumn Leaves buttons & paper strip; Doily; Local lace, fiber, brads & ribbons, stickers.

Week 16: Scrap myself!

Standard

I’m proud to announce that I’m one of the pioneer DT members of SCRAP YOURSELF! It’s a challenge blog that focuses on the artist/scrapbooker. I’m so excited with this assignment since I really seldom create pages about me. The primary reason why I got hooked into scrapbooking in 2003 was to arrange my firstborn’s photos in a special way and for the family to remember the memories that go with them. Todate, I only have a handful of layouts that featured only ME and most of them were done because of some challenges or contests. I can’t say I’m not a narcissist or vain, I am, sometimes…it’s just that the photos of the kids keep on piling up so I tend to do them first before anything else ;oP

Let me share again the layouts I’ve done about me:

2ND LIFE (talks about how I survived kidnapping, yes, I was kidnapped!)

FIT & FAB before 40 (The weight battle continues…)

DON’T SPEAK (If I can’t speak, I just have to laugh!)

I AM (My favorite layout!)

7 years into this hobby, it’s about time to spotlight who and what I am in my pages, right?

Scrap Yourself will have a new challenge every week starting on May 5. I’m going to work with another talented Pinay scrapper and a friend, Issa. Can’t wait to see what she’ll come up with since the DT members are split into 2 groups and we belong in separate groups, thus, we’ll be working on different challenges. Isn’t that exciting!

Hope to see you joining us! It’ll be fun, surely!

How could I …

Standard

… leave my laptop in a very conspicuous place?!? Yes, I was that stupid! I accidentally left it at Mothercare Store, Greenbelt 5 last Friday (April 16). I was struggling to get my wallet when I was paying my purchases so I decided to put my laptop on the floor. I only realized it was missing after 3 hours when all Greenbelt malls were already closed. I approached the security men roaming around and reported the incident. They can only give me the store’s telephone number. Of course, it was also useless since nobody was answering, it’s not as if it’s a 24 hour store noh!!! I could hardly sleep that night thinking all the possibilities and praying hard it will be returned without any hitch.

The next day, I rushed back to the store an hour before the mall opened. Thank God the security guard let me in and there were already sales people in Mothercare. God is indeed good, the staff saw it (before any malicious customer did). They were trying to look for contact number or name of the owner inside the bag and the laptop but found none so they just put it in their vault. Thank you, Mothercare… thank you, Lord for taking care of it! It’s a company  property and is due for replacement but I’m not sure if I have to pay the entire cost should I lose it. What an expensive way to learn a lesson if that would be the case, nyaks!

Week 13: My Holy Week

Standard

Spent holy week at home and at the in-laws’ (mother in law and DH’s siblings are neighbors in one village) just lazing around, eating, watching dvd’s, reading and scrapbooking. Since I’m in a transition of sorts, I wasn’t able to hear the “washing of the feet” mass on Maundy Thursday nor participate in Visita Iglesia nor procession but I’m glad we had a meaningful Easter service on Sunday. I still need to work on something within me but I know He’s there every step of the way and everything will fall into places in His time.

Anyway, I was able to finish 3 layouts during the long break but I wasn’t able to take their photos so I have to share this first with you…

YOU:

Journal: (part of the patterned paper) You are…crazy, silly, funny, goofy, amazing, cool, awesome, ALL OF THE ABOVE!

Materials Used: Papers-Bazzill, Cosmo Cricket, AC, Nikki Sivils, Sassafras, WeRMK; Stickers-AL, Heidi Grace; Others-AC thickers, MM paint, AC Flair button, AL red button, ric-rac, Doodlebug paper ribbon, Tattered Angels Mist, DCWV rub-on & Magic Mesh (as paint pattern).

I’m entering this to Candy Shoppe Designs  challenge this week.  It’s about scrapbooking photos that crack you up.  This page always makes me smile. Gaby had fun in the photobooth taken during our office’s trick or treat last year.     Hope you also join the challenge.  For more details, click here.   An awesome kit from Scarlet Lime is at stake!

Hope you had a meaningful holy week! Happy Easter!

Week 12: Turn off the lights…

Standard

We somewhat did!   We were out in MOA so we incidentally joined the EARTH HOUR too, except that DH left the  bulb  in our garage on (forgot to remind him, shucks!).    I still feel guilty not to have done it all the way as we did the past years as this is one of  the simplest ways  to contribute in saving mother earth.   But, it’s not yet too late I know.  We’ll try to be more conscious in switching  on the lights unnecessarily.
