Grow Happy November 5, 2009

…that’s what I wish for my children.

As babies, happiness is so easy to achieve, but as we grow, we realize that the world can be so cruel and life, unfair. As my children gets older, I want them to continue to appreciate simple pleasures, to be thankful for small blessings, to be optimistic, to be positive, to see the good in others, to carry their burden with lightness because they are confident in God’s goodness and the support of the people who love them. I’m sure every parent wishes the same, wouldn’t you agree? I know, because God wants us to be!

Here’s a lay-out of a photo oozing with happiness…it never fails to put a smile on my face. I’m sure you’re doing it now, too!

Love is all that matters… October 22, 2009

Ad Challenge 4 is up at Dotty Divas!

AD Challenge #4

For this ad, I used our wacky photos taken during our 7th wedding anniversary in 2006. We decided to have a photo shoot commemorating our success in surpassing the 7-year itch in marriage hehe.   Seriously, we have a normal, sometimes boring but most of the time fun marriage, yes, there were definitely some glitches and bumps along the way but our love and commitment for each other always shine through to enable us to overcome them.   I know there are more challenges to come  ’til we reach our golden years but I am confident that we will  surpass them because love is there…and love is all that matters (and faith in the One up there, of course!).

LOVE  (Always & Forever):

Love Always & Forever

Materials Used: DCWV, 7 Gypsies, Love Elsie papers;  Fancy Pants die-cut, Prima rub-on; Semco & MM acrylic paints; Grunge and corrugated board; mesh; Craft Express alpha chipboard;  Lil Davies glitter glue.

Do please join this challenge because we have another awesome prizes for you…a kit from Label Tulip and a pack of Bazzill CS from Cardinal Colours!  Isn’t that amazing!  If I could just join hahaha…I really would just to have a chance to win these!  Have fun!

Getting ready for Halloween October 10, 2009

Moments Recorded’s  first October challenge is up! To be ready with the Halloween festivities, the challenge is for you to create the scariest lay-out you’ve ever made…or anything halloween-y, for that matter!

To create my take, I decided to use our photos taken during last year’s Trick 0r Treat activity in our office. This is one major event that our company organizes (& splurges on) every year. All our kids really look forward to it because they know it will be one…

SPOOKY & FUN DAY:

This was also entered into one of this month’s challenges at Coordinates Collections.

Come and join us and have a spook-tacular Halloween!

Happy Birthday my Angels! October 5, 2009

My daughters’ birthdays got stormed, literally!

My eldest Gaby turned 9 last September 27, a day after Typhoon Ketsana’s (Ondoy’s) wrath.

My baby Alexa turned 2 last October 1 while Super Typhoon Parma (Pepeng) was travelling towards the Philippines.

So worried but more so, thankful that we are safe! It’s the greatest birthday gift, really!

To my beautiful girls, Mommy wishes you good health, happiness,  lots of love around you, kind hearts,  good life and good fortune so you can be a blessing to others!

In time for such celebration, here’s a birthday layout I recently made and entered into Scrappinkids challenge #19 (which I won, thanks to blog owner, Wati!).  This is a super belated birthday page of Gaby when she turned 7 last 2007:

So thankful… October 1, 2009

…that I have more…especially after the weekend’s calamity hitting the Metro and sparing us of the worse…indeed, my gratitude is overflowing!

This page is very apt to what’s been happening and what I feel now. Finished this last Friday before the disaster and submitted it here  for their GDT challenge.

MORE:

Journalling: Whenever I feel I have less, I just remember that I have you…the most important and beautiful blessings I have! Indeed, God has given me so much more…

Materials Used: MM, BG, CK, SEI papers; Fancy Pants chipboard;  AC thickers; Prima flowers; K&Co sticker; DMC thread; MM paint; local felt, bling & lace.

And really, the news that I won is good but when I think that a lot of our friends have lost so much, I feel guilty to be ecstatic! Still grateful for this blessing, of course!

Saying thank you and praying is right but I know I have to do something more… may we not pass this opportunity to help. The more you receive, the more is expected of you. So go and be a blessing to others!

As she takes your lead… September 21, 2009

…is my take on Dotty Divas‘ Challenge 3.   An interpretation of this cute Starbucks advert:

DD3

As soon as I saw the advert for this challenge, I know the perfect photo/s to go with it!  The problem was,  I didn’t have such kind of photo!  It took me ages to execute and take these because of the rains.  Thank God for a few minutes of sunshine, vacant lots around our village and Photoshop, my children  seemed to be in some remote, provincial, fresh-air filled field  :D

AS SHE TAKES YOUR LEAD:

Your Lead

Hidden Journal (a note for my eldest in the small envelope behind the flowers):

Dearest Gaby,

Let me tell you that I’m so proud of you for being a good sister to Alexa.  You’re such a sweet, nurturing, protective,  patient  and loving sister.   I’m so happy to see how much fun you two have when you play with one another in spite of your age gap.  You find pleasure indulging in toddler activities and you see how Alexa loves everything about you and always follows what you do.  Always remember that Alexa will just do that as she grows up.  She will  look up to you and adore you.  So you have to be an example to her.   Teach her simple good manners by saying thank you and please all the time.   Be humble and say sorry when you’re at fault and in no time, she will understand it and be humble herself.   Be kind and generous and I’m sure she’ll take after you.    Don’t forget to brush your teeth before going to sleep, remind her too so she won’t forget.   I know you love reading and I hope Alexa does too.  Always say your prayers before you two sleep.   Show her  how a good daughter, a good sister, a good student, a good girl and a child of God should be…as she takes your lead.   I love you so much!    – Mommy  Sept09

Materials used:  Papers-Bazzil, K&Co, Chatterbox, Websters Pages, Collage Press;   Alphas-AC, unknown chipboard;  Flowers-Prima, local brand;  Others-Tattered Angels Glittered Mist, Prima blings, Scrapworks metal tag & stickers, Daisy Bucket rub-ons,  CK envelope,  MM circle chipboard & acrylic paint, local pearls & lace/ribbon.

Please do join us and win 10 packs of newly released CHA thickers,  sponsored by American Crafts themselves!  Isn’t that a major WOW!   And not only that, you have a chance to win 1 Bazzill Collection pack in a color of your choice.   That’s 25 sheets of yummy CS!  This is sponsored by a generous scrapbooking store in UK, Cardinal Colours!  You have until October 20 to work on it!  Have fun!
